When the woman strode confidently into the restaurant, he knew it had to be her. She’d said she’d carry a red purse – but he had no idea she’d be such a looker. Her black suit, with slightly padded shoulders, peplum waist and just-a-tiny-bit-too-tight skirt showed off all her angles. James stood up expectantly, but before he could dart around to pull out her chair, she whipped off her right glove (also red) and extended her hand. “Ella,” she said as they shook. “Call me Ella – and order me a martini.”
