ESSE is Collecting for Comfort Cases

When Christopher Belt first introduced Comfort Cases to the staff here at ESSE, we did not know anything about the organization. When we watched their segment on the Ellen Show we were sobbing along with the audience. We were immediately blown away by this wonderful organization!

We learned that years ago Comfort Cases founder Rob was in the foster care system. He transitioned from place to place with his items in a trash bag. He and his partner adopted four children from the foster care system and they too came to their doorstep with their items in a trash bag. They were stunned that thirty years later this was still happening. Rob and his partner founded Comfort Cases to ensure that foster children receive the dignity they deserve by receiving NEW bags with NEW comforting items for their journeys. In addition to being featured on the Ellen Show, they’ve been on the Today Show, Upworthy, and more. They even recently won $75,000 from DSW Shoes.

Christopher Belt, Arkansas native and three-time Independent Handbag Designer Award winner for whom we are hosting a celebration homecoming event October 12th, reached out hoping the evening could benefit Comfort Cases. ESSE decided to serve as a collection site for for the organization leading up to the evening and will soon after host a packing party in which the comfort cases will be donated to local foster children.

We need your help in collecting items for Comfort Cases. We are even offering incentives! When you bring in items on the below wish list you will receive a complimentary admission ticket to ESSE Purse Museum's permanent exhibit, What’s Inside: A Century of Women and Handbags and our special temporary exhibit The Power of Plastics: Reshaping Mid-Century Fashion. When you bring in a new small duffel bag or backpack you will also receive 15% off your next purchase in The Store at ESSE.
